Dissapointing Products | #2

Hi Guys,

The last disappointing products post I did went down so well that I though I would do another one, and oddly this one had only drugstore products in, (which I didn't do on purpose). Since the last post I have discovered a few more products that I personally don't get on with or products that I wouldn’t ever recommend to anyone because I feel they are just bad products in general.
So I’m hoping by now you know how this thing goes now, let’s get into it then.

1. 301 Flat Contour brush

First up is something that I was seriously so gutted about when I released it was a complete waste of money. It’s the 'Bold Metals Collection by Real Techniques 301 Flat Contour brush'.

It is specifically designed to make contouring easier and to help get that chiselled cheekbone look that is desirable nowadays. However I personally find that if you sure it to contour it just ends up removing any foundation that you have applied underneath because the brush itself is very very dense. And I don’t really appreciate having patchy foundation.
But also what I have noticed is that anyone that has this brush hasn’t used It for its actual job, and normally I wouldn’t have a problem with that as I am a greater believer in the fact that any brush can be used for any task. But taking that I’m yet to hear anyone say anything good about that particular brush as well, give me the impression that people are too scared to criticise it. as it is part of a well respected brand and collection.

At most I would use it for foundation, but only if my other brushes were really dirty and needed a wash.

2. Velvet Lipstick

This had so much hype around it, and for a long time I swore I wasn’t going to get on the hype of this product, but eventually I gave in. and quite honestly I so wish I hadn’t I was defiantly not what I was expecting and I really don’t understand why people like it so much. The Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet lipstick is one I would never recommend to anyone.

For starters the smell of it is absolutely horrific, to me is smells like metallic blood and that is defiantly not something that I would like to apply to my face. Secondly the formula is so odd. on me it applies very patchy and not a solid colour which is what I was expecting, I gave it a few goes both on its own and with a base colour but I still didn't get on with it, so that’s why it has ended up in my disappointing products post.

3. Poudre De Riz Java
Next is another Bourjois product and it is the Bourjois Poudre De Riz De Java. So the first two times I used this I wasn’t 100% happy with it but I figured it is just something that I will get use to over time and learn to love. But as time went on I really didn’t learn to love it.

There are multiple things wrong with this powder, now again this product from Bourjois smells awful too(reoccurring theme here), it smells like roses and old people (no offence old people) but it is a smell that I cant really stomach. however another problem with the product is the packaging, now I can just about deal with some loose powders, but this one is just so messy and difficult I would hate using it and eventually I just stopped using it because it was too much hassle.

Lastly, and the main point as to why this is in my disappointing products post is because I brought this specifically for spring/summer because I wanted to switch up my heavy duty makeup look to a lighter more glowie makeup look. But when you have oily skin like me this products is a definite no no. mainly because it doesn't have oil control and it also have flecks of glitter in which really doesn't help anyone with oily skin.

4. Supercat Eyeliner

Last but not least, another product that was majorly talked about for a long time that I ended up purchasing, which ended up being a mistake is the Soap & Glory™ Supercat™ Eyeliner Pen Carbon Black Extreme.

In simple this 'carbon black' eyeliner, defiantly ISN'T black, its grey. Which I was seriously disappointed about, because so many people said that they got on with it really easily. But yeah I don't think there is much more to say about that except it wasn't what I expected.

Dupes | #1

Hi Guys,
Now 'Dupe' posts are my all time favourite type of posts. I mean come on, who doesn't like to find a cheaper alternative to their favourite high end product... Which is why I figured it was about time I gave one a go for myself.
I think for my first 'Dupes' post I will do a few of the good old classics that everyone knows and loves. And then if this one goes down well I might expand into some of the less talked about dupes and products.

First up is Nars - Sheer Glow Foundation Vs. Revlon - Colourstay Foundation
Vs.
Nars Sheer Glow is an absolute favourite for so many people, purely because it is one of the best foundations out there, it has a good coverage, a variety of shades, long lasting, doesn't go 'cakey', well the list could go on. However there is a definite downside... which is of course the price. How if your using your foundation every day you might have noticed it gets used up relatively quickly which isn't normally a problem if you buying a drugstore foundation at an inexpensive price. but when your spending £31 a go, it eventually starts to add up. Which is why I went on the hunt around the drugstores to find the prefect sheer glow dupe.
Now the Revlon colour stay is defiantly a cheaper alternative, now it’s obviously not an exact match for sheer glow, but I think it’s the closest your gunna get on a budget. It is long lasting and has the same feel on the skin as sheer glow does. And it leaves a glowing flawless finish, which is exactly what ‘Nars Sheer Glow’ does. So if you are wanted to try sheer glow but can’t bring yourself to pay the price I would defiantly suggest purchasing Revlons colour stay.

Nars - £31.00 // Revlon - £9.99

..................

Now we have the Mac - Prolong-wear Concealer Vs. Collection - Lasting Perfection Concealer
Vs.
Concealers are so vital in everyone's makeup routines nowadays, so finding a cheaper alternative that works for you is almost a miracle. Mac's prolong wear concealer was love at first sight. I, like everywhere girl in the world gets spots so it is key to have a heavy duty concealer that can cover those annoying little thing up.  But even though Mac isn't the most expensive makeup brand out there, they aren't always the easiest to get hold if especially if you haven't got a Mac close to where you live, like me.
Which is why I have fallen back in love with my collection lasting perfection concealer because it literally does exactly the same thing, the only difference is that the collection formula is a bit thicker whereas Mac's formula is on the runny side.

MAC - £17.50 // Collection - £4.19

..................

Next up is  No7 - Natural Blush Tint in ..... Vs. Benefits - Dandelion Blush
 Vs.
As I've said in a previous post, the Benefit dandelion blush was my very first high end product, so for me I knew I had to set myself the challenge of finding a dupe for it. now I love all of Benefits powder products as I find them all so very pigmented and long lasting, which is why this was one of the hardest to find because drugstore powder products definitely don't have the staying power that the high-end products do. Which is why I eventually stopped looking for lasting power and when more for colour and application qualities.
So as you can see from the photos below No7's blush tint is almost identical in colour and well as far as application goes if feels and goes on as easily as the dandelion blush does.

No7 - £9.00 // Benefit - £23.50

.....................

Lastly we have Revlon - Black cherry lipstick Vs.Mac- Diva lipstick
Vs.
Now as it is coming up for the Autumn/Winter months I though it would be highly appropriate to include a prefect dark berry lip. Now out of all my berry lip colours that i own, Mac's diva has to be my favourite, it is long lasting an amazing colour and matte. But apart from the price it can also be a little bit on the drying side, which in the winter months really isn't helpful.

So I did a little research and found out that Revlon’s black cherry is one of the closest drugstore dupe lipsticks to Mac's diva.  I completely agree with that statement, I means it isn't matte so it wont dry your lips out and is a third of the price, what more could you want. so if your on a budget and want to keep up with the dark lip trend i seriously suggest investing in Revlon’s black cherry lipstick.

Revlon - £4.99 // MAC - £15.50

Beauty Blogger TAG!

Hi Guys, I’m so so sorry I haven't posted anything is almost 2 months. I did have a whole heap of content to uplode, but with it being summer holidays over here in England time just got away from me. However as its back to school this week, I’m hoping things will go back to normal, and I’ll go back to posting each week.
Anyways enough of my chatter, Hope you all had a fabulous summer, and I’ll jump straight into the beauty blogger tag

.................

1. Is your hair naturally curly or straight?
Naturally extremely curly. But I straighten it, as this is what I prefer.

2. Do you dye it yourself or go to a salon?
I go to a salon to get my hair dyed. For those of you who are interested, I go to my local TONI&GUY salon, and the colour i have at the moment is red.

3. Do you wear the same style everyday, or do you change it?
Personally I don't think I particularly have a style as such, (other people may say differently), but I just sort of wear what I feel is appropriate for the day ahead.

4. Do you do your own mani/pedi or go to a salon?
I go to a salon to get my nails done, and for those who were wondering i get acrylics done. I don't get pedicures as I don't like people touching my feet, but occasionally when I get my feet out I will make an attempt to paint my toe nails.

5. How often do you change your nail polish?
Only when I've got a big event and the original colour doesn't go with the outfit. Otherwise I’ll just keep the colour on that I had them done with. I find painting my nails so long and boring.

6. Do you polish your toes in the winter or just the summer?
Again like I said above I only really paint my toes when I get my feet out, E.g., open toed shoes.

7. How long does it take for you to put on makeup?
Depends on the day, if it’s a good day with nice plans then it can take up to and hour. But if its just to pop to the shops or something about 10/20 minuets.

8. What do you do first? Face or eyes?
Face, of-course, I've never understood why people do eyes first. There is a reason why foundation is called foundation...

9. Do you collect makeup or just buy what you need when you need it?
I am an awful example of a makeup hoarder, I just buy makeup whenever even if I don't need it. This is such a bad habit to get into. I am trying my hardest to cut down on the amount I buy, but what can I say I’m a sucker for a good lipstick.

10. How often do you wear false eyelashes?
I have only ever worn a few pairs of eyelashes in my life time. I've always find that they don't really fit me or suit me and they just take to long to apply. But at the end of this month I am turning 18, which is super exiting and obviously as everyone does on there 18th, me and my friends are going out. So I am making it my goal to make the effort with some eyelashes for when I go out.

11. Do you do a full face of makeup everyday?
Pretty much, I feel naked if I don't have a full face on. Which again is such a bad habit, but I can’t help it, its part of my daily routine. As far as I’m concerned a 'full face' is all the essentials E.g. foundation, concealer, powder, bronzer, eye shadow, mascara, eyeliner and lipstick. But I also no where to draw the line between a day look and an evening look, if that makes sense.

12. Do you wear makeup when you're home alone or with family?
Unless I've already been out or I’m going out I don't feel the need to put any makeup on when I’m just sitting at home (its good to let your skin breath). But if people come over E.g. extended family or close family friends I will always put makeup on because that's when I feel more confident and sociable.

13. Will you leave the house without makeup?
Not unless my house was on fire.

14. How many high-end products do you have?
I would dread to think quite frankly. Too many to count I think.

15. Do you plan your OOTD every night or decide when you're getting dressed?
Yeah I tend to plan what I’m wearing in advance because it's so much easier to just get up and get ready without even thinking about it. Trust me it'll cut down your morning routine ALOT, which means more time to stay in bed.

16. How often do you change your handbag?
Well as I’m still a student I tend to use the same bad everyday for sixth-form as it is just easier, because that way you don't forget anything in the mornings. But when it comes to going out in the evenings or weekends, I’ll pick a bag that suits the outfit.

17. What time do you wake up and go to sleep?
Weekdays I wake up at half 6/7. Weekends I’ll say in bed as long as possible, but I don't like to say in bed to long otherwise a whole day has passed and I haven't done anything which is such a crappy feeling. As for bedtimes, I generally go to bed whenever I start to get tired unless there is something important I need to stay up for.

18. How often or when do you workout?
hahahhha, I don't work out at all. I know I should, but I would just never get round to it.

19. Left handed or right handed?
Well I write with my write hand but I do everything else with my left.

20. How tall are you?
5''1 (yes, I realize that I’m small)

21. Do you speak any foreign languages?
Nope not unless you count the limited amount that I learnt for GCSE French.

22. How many pets do you have?
Just a Dog called Winter, she is a Bedlington Terrier.

23. How often are you on Blogger?
I check it everyday.

24. Do you read comments posted on blogs?
Yep of course I do!

25. Do you keep a list of products to try as you see other posts?
Yeah, what beauty blogger doesn't have a 'makeup wishlist'

26. How did you come up with your blog name?
I have absolutely no idea, I just knew I wanted my middle name in there somewhere so I just played around with a new different names and came up with 'autumnwonderland'.

27. What kind of camera do you use for your photographs?
At the moment I just use my Samsung S5 phone as I seriously love the quality of the photos it produces, it’s a hell of alot better than any of my actual cameras.

28. How often do you clean your room?
I clean my room everyday; I can’t stand having a messy room. It drives me crazy if things aren't in there right place.

29. What's your favourite colour?
Purple!!!!!

30. Do you swear?
If and only when it’s necessary.

31. What are you doing with the rest of your day?
Watching a bit of Prison Break and finishing of some school work most likely. Nothing to glamours.

...............

It is so good to be sitting down and blogging again. Cant wait for you guys to see some of the content I have got lined up for you.
